Mechanism of Action

Eltrombopag is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist (TPO-RA).

It binds to the transmembrane domain of the thrombopoietin receptor (c-Mpl) on megakaryocytes and progenitor cells.

This stimulates platelet production, thereby reducing bleeding risks.
Dosage & Administration

Dose depends on indication and patient’s condition.

Typical starting dose: 25mg or 50mg once daily orally.

Should be taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals).

Avoid taking with dairy products, antacids, or supplements containing aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, or zinc as they reduce absorption.
